“We built the studio we wished existed when we planned our own nikah in 2012. Twelve years later, our team has served more than a thousand families.”

Our Story

Founded by a sister who spent nine months looking for a halal caterer.

In 2012, our founder Yasmin Qureshi was planning her own nikah in Austin and could not find a single vendor who understood zabiha, hijab-safe photography and segregated seating. She found none of them easily — so she built the studio she wished existed.

Twelve years later, Yasmin & Sons is a team of sixteen planners, designers and coordinators working from a studio on South Congress with satellite partners in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Denver, Atlanta and Los Angeles. We are Muslim-owned, women-led, and we answer every email within one business day.

  • Zabiha-first sourcing Every caterer holds a verifiable halal certification — HFSAA, IFANCA or a recognized local authority. Certificates kept on file.
  • Modesty by design Segregated seating, female photography crews, private bridal suites and hijab-safe lighting as standard, not as an upgrade.
  • Imam & wali coordination Paperwork, timing, mahr documentation and the nikah contract itself — handled with care by our team and your chosen imam.
  • Budget honesty Fixed planning fees, no hidden vendor commissions, and a written brief before we suggest a single caterer.

My mother was worried the whole thing would feel “Western.” It didn’t. The team found us an imam who knew our family’s madhhab, and the segregation was handled so gracefully that nobody felt awkward. My mother cried — the good kind.

We planned a 300-person walima from Riyadh while living abroad. Everything was on video calls at 3 a.m. my time, and they never once made me feel like a burden. The zabiha certificate documentation was flawless.

As a hijabi bride, the photography was my biggest anxiety. They sent an all-female crew, showed me every frame before editing, and gave me the login to my own private gallery. I felt safe the entire day.

Our budget was $17,000 for everything — nikah plus walima. They didn’t laugh at us. They built a plan that actually worked and we came in $400 under. That kind of honesty is rare in this industry.

I converted two years before my nikah and had no family support on my side. The planners treated me like a daughter. They arranged a wali through the local masjid when I had no one. I still get emotional thinking about it.

We used the matchmaking service first and the wedding planning a year later. Same office, same manners. They never rushed us, never pushed a meeting, and let our families lead. That respect is why we came back.

Our imam canceled two weeks before the wedding. Yasmin & Sons found a replacement in 48 hours — same madhhab, same manners, same respect for our family. I do not know what we would have done without them.

My husband is Somali and I am Mexican-American. They built a menu that honored both families without confusing either. The brisket-to-biryani crossover was one of the best meals of my life — and my mother-in-law agreed.

As the father of the bride, I was skeptical of hiring planners. But they treated my daughter like their own. They made sure every detail honored our deen and made the day stress-free for the entire family.

Questions

Things families
ask us first.

Don’t see your question? Call or write and we will answer within one business day.

No. Our home base is Austin, but we plan across all 50 states. Travel is billed at cost — flights, hotel and per-diem — and we always tell you the number before we book anything. For events outside Texas we usually bring one lead planner plus a local coordinator.

Yes. Every caterer on our roster holds a current certificate from a recognized halal authority, and we keep scanned copies on file. If you follow a specific standard — HFSAA, IFANCA, or a local masjid’s certification — tell us and we will match you only with vendors who meet it.

Absolutely. Roughly 60% of our clients choose some form of segregation. We design split halls, curtained partitions, separate entrances and staggered timelines. We also brief the photography and catering crews in advance so no one improvises on the day.

Our Nikah Essential package starts at $2,600 and is built for ceremonies under 60 guests. We also offer a two-hour consultation for $175 if you only need guidance rather than full planning. We would rather tell you honestly what is possible than take money for something we cannot deliver.

For a full walima, 9 to 14 months is comfortable. For a nikah-only ceremony, 3 to 5 months is usually enough. That said, we hold two emergency slots per quarter for short-notice weddings, so it is always worth calling.

We do, and it is one of the parts of our work we treasure most. We can help locate a wali through a local masjid, prepare a non-Muslim family for what to expect at a nikah, and set a tone where nobody feels like an outsider.
